The Adapter Saga Continues

/ The Adapter Saga Continues #51
I have a PTO adapter that recently came loose. In the process of fixing it I discovered that although loose I could not remove it. First I discover a set screw and thought I was home free....think again, 2nd I discovered an opposing set screw on the other side of the adapter once again home free...oh oh still won't come off, next in playing with it I determined that the short internal key was catching on one end. I used a skinny punch to go through the set screw hole that was above the key and reset the key by tapping with hammer. Adapter slid off....Geez why did I take it off?? I put it back together and tightened it up. This adapter was on a PTO pump shaft. Maybe something similar is hanging?

Charlie,
Nope !! no progress, but then I haven't had any time to spend on it. I re-installed the backhoe, so I could move it out of my lawn mowing area, set it out of the way, un-attached it and the adapter still sits on the tractor.
Where a,s I have no other 3PTH implements, there is no reall hurry or need at the moment to get it off. So hopefully I will get back to it soon.
I will keep everyone posted as to my progress or lack of.
