Martin,

I know what you mean. They have ways of....., LOL. I have found the main problem is getting anybody to sign off. Nobody wants their name at the bottom of the permit. From what I have been told now that the permit has been issued it will be easier to get the next one, right.

I was given some good advise at one point. Ask them for something totally rediculous then settle for what you want. Never ask for what you want. Let them tell you what you need, with a little coaxing of course.

People have been putting sand in this lake for many years, it's when a neighbor complains that it becomes an issue, otherwise they are just to understaffed to keep up with ordinary work.

Good luck with your project and keep us posted.

Martin,

I just looked at your pictures. That project looks familiar. I feel your pain my friend.

Do you have problems driving on the beach or do you have enough of a base to hold up the tractor?

Martin, One more thought. Since you are building a wall. Have you thought of using Gavions? They are more or less a heavy gauge of chicken wire formed like a box. You fill them with a recommended stone and then tie them shut. Each one ties to the next. Makes for a very strong wall. It may be easier than moving big rocks.

My father lives on a bay which gets the full force of 135 miles of uninterupted south wind. Nothing has been able to with stand the force except for the Gavions. We have tried everything there. Huge shot rock, concrete seawalls, etc. Just a thought.

No problem driving on the beach then Sam. It is all georgeous gravel for about 40' out. If I get about 40' from shore it turns to muck. I can't get in there now, my 3130 won't swim. It's way more complicated now.
Thanks for the advise.
Martin

OK, got ya, I forgot about the raising of the water level. With the lake it's just timing, which is never at the right time. I guess you do not have that luxury. Controlled water level can be a good thing unless of course you want to work below the maintained level. Is it lowered on any kind of schedule or just when they need to work something?
Good Luck either way.

The project is almost complete so I thought I would throw a couple of pictures up.

Shot of the beach from across the two properties.
