Now I'm not an oil guru, and I'll bow to GSXR110's and Dargo's superior knowledge any time, but when you think about what you're protecting, the cost of just about any oil is cheap.
Modern oils, both dino and synthetic, from the major companies are so good that, while you can argue over "better" and "best", there really isn't one that should be labeled "bad". So, my personal view is that it doesn't matter what oil you use if it is changed at the recommended intervals. Now, if you want to get into extended oil changes, that's a different matter.
I thought that I'd just stir things up a bit so now I'm going to hunker down in my foxhole, before the bullets start flying. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just kidding. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif For what it's worth I think you're spot on. Having said that I am a synthetic user and feel it's suits me best, but it may not be the best for everyone.
If you’re only going to keep your vehicle for 50-60K and then trade it in, a dino oil is for you. On the other hand if you plan on extracting every cent of value from a car or truck probably a synthetic is your better bet. Of course there are other factors that should be considered like driving style, climate, off road or on road use etc. Nevertheless I believe how long you plan to keep a vehicle in your service should be your prime factor when deciding which oil to use. (Dino Vs. Syn) I'm not even going to broach brand. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

That is my point. Based on the manufactures website they are both the same with respect to there ASTM tests.
I was also looking around and saw the same thing.
Either way for me, I do not like ASH in my oil and the low VI is not liked by me.
But on the flip side the P & Ca are low in both.
If there is a diff then it is not on there webpage for #1 and #2 by the numbers they should be close in price since nothing stands out very much here....just weird and I have no idea on the numbers you got.
To close, even if you are trading your car in soon, for me the benefits far exceed the price of using the oil.
