Well, I did it. Mailed the check Saturday.

My order:

PT425
small bucket
48" finish mower
60" rake
Auger with 14" and 30" augers
plow
forks

I chose the small bucket because I want to keep things narrow enough to fit in tight places and through narrow gates.

I checked the 4 in One but the member who let me try his tractor said it did not live up to his expectations as a brush mover. He said if he did it again he would get a dedicated grapple bucket for brush, instead.

Same reason for the small 48" mower.

The rake is because we get a lots of debris from the trees and I want to be able to push it aside before I mow.

The small auger is for planting an orchard and the large one for flower beds. Very rocky here and I want to dig deeper than a tiller will go. It looks like I will have to separate rocks by hand with a rock fork and then backfill the holes. A rock fork/screener/ etc. seems to me like a good implement for PT. Anyone at PT listening?

The plow is for digging some shallow trenches for irrigation tubes and furrows for asparagus, etc.

The forks are to spare my aching back. As I don't have a convenient loading dock I want some way to get heavy objects out of the freight trucks that bring the goodies. Besides my wife has some large potted plants that need to be moved into the sunroom for the winter and I promised her that someday she could have a full fledged (10' high) greenhouse large enough for small trees, large shrubs.

Speed is not an issue with me now that I am retired. Finding something to keep me busy probably is.

BTW, anyone have any experience with a hydraulic chain saw?

WOW, Congratulations on your purchase. Are you having it delivered or will you pick up? Did you go to Tazewell to test drive?

Congrats! Like you I'm new to the PT, I'm picking mine up this week Thursday.

I'm also thinking hydraulic chain or hydraulic blade saw. I have a bunch of small cedars to take care of on the farm that are a bit too big for the brush hog and I would like to have something I could drive right by them and saw them off at ground level. I have a Farm Show CD that shows a lot of attachments like that cobbled up by farmers. When I get time I'm going to review them and see if it jogs any brain cells (I know, I'm leaving my self wide open on this one!) on making one.

Sounds good. Please send us pictures. I wonder if the stump grinder could be turned 90 degrees and used to cut down small trees. Maybe it could be fitted with a narrower and larger diameter blade.

I'm picking up a stump grinder with my order and I'll look at that to see if something like that would work. If I think about it, I'll ask Scott at Power Trac what the RPM of the stump grinder is.

As of 5 April I live in Thayer, MO. Prior to that I lived in Vacaville, CA.

No I did not go to Tazewell. We were in the midst of the move and there was neither time or money enough to make the trip.

I was not interested in cutting down trees. I want to keep the ones I have. I was interested in pruning them and cutting firewood. I thought a hydraulic chain saw of tree pruner that could use the PT's hydraulic pump would be convenient. Cut it, load it, haul it back. All without having to full with a separate saw, gas, etc.

I have a hydraulic chain saw, and a hydraulic pole saw, driven by a hydraulic backpack. It could be converted to plug into the PT's hydraulic system. It is much quiter.

You could make a nice hydraulic saw by using a hyd motor and some steel plate. Weld a six by eighteen 1/2 plate to the PT adapter plate. Bolt the hyd motor to the plate, and add an adapter plate, and choose your blade.
