The crack is back! Repair #2, + bad paint match!

Trescrows said it best with building a plate to cover it. Your lift arms are to the left your wheels you ride on to the right. Yes there is a lot of vibration and load right there. Could it have been a bad bend sure, but it won't fix itself and a complete cover built for the area from the wheel support to the lift arms and secured in with bolts or by welding to relieve the load stress that it doesn't seem to hold at this time is needed. Kubota uses a white primer on there equipment before painting it.

Just a note to let people know that Kubota had a memo out on the bad paint batch! They gave me two new cans that should match! I'll find out when I get home tonight.

VON: what i meant by bridging it was to take a peice of steel abouth the same thickness of the deck, and welding it across the stress area, do u notice any stress cracks or fatigue on the othe side? the stress should be the same on both sides if the are moulded the same, has to be a reason why one side is cracking and not the other.

Re: The crack is back! Repair #2, + bad paint matc

Is it possible the type of welding rod is incorrect for the application, and is either too hard or soft of material. It may be work hardening the metal too. I know very little about it, but there is a large selection of welding rod/wire that has widely varying applications.

It is possible that too much or too little heat and the wrong rod type could make the problem worse.

TresCrows??? Is that maybe a part of the problem?

"TresCrows??? Is that maybe a part of the problem?"

Robert, aside from my admittedly childish "I told you so" (but it felt so good) I would rather stay out of this. Last time this thread got mean and nasty and I dropped out of it. Would rather not be involved in another. I would like to make one correction, I said no weld I ever made has failed, what I should have said and meant to say is that no weld I ever made as a repair using a proper standard repair practice such as a doubler (bridge, patch, reinforcement plate, whatever is your fancy in terminology) has ever failed a second time.
Robert, I would not dissagree entirely with your statement.
Y'all have a nice weekend /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
