I thought the music had died when Roy Orbison and Marty Robbins both died so young. Beautiful, powerful voices.
I saw Roy Orbison in concert in about 1959 in Albuquerque. He was a young, smiling fellow with no sunglasses and short hair. He had even lost his guitar, and had to borrow one from Johnny Cash's band (Cash was the headliner). Good show...Cash was smashed; could hardly stand up on the stage, but he could play and sing and never missed a beat.
I saw Roy in 1961 or 1962 in Wink, Texas. I was maybe 10. Was sure exciting for a young boy.
Dang, Sgt Peppers is fifty years old this month!

There is good and great music in every genre, and not discounting the talent before them or since, but IMO it's the Beatles then everyone else.
