Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones passed away. He was 80.

This was the first time in decades that he didn't go on tour with the Stones. I find it amazing that those guys are still going at their age.

We've seen them 3 times. We're supposed to see them last year in Pittsburg, but postponed. It was put back on again for this October. They announce that Charlie Watts had to have emergency surgery a few weeks ago, and he wanted them to get another drummer so the show would go on. They got the drummer that Kieth Richards uses when he does solo work. Then today they announced Charlie passed away. I wonder if they'll continue.

He played on every album the Stones recorded since they started recording. Been married to the same woman since 1964. He was about the most normal of all of them. Really liked jazz. Steady guy. He always looked so calm playing back there.

i lived on a golf course just south of greensboro nc. one of the first houses you saw on the way in had a wrought iron gate with musical notes built into the design,

i asked around and was told that was his house, never met him.
