Agreed, my parents didn’t like my music and I didn’t like theirs. I don’t like much of the music from people much younger than me and they don’t like my tastes in music. The local classic rock station plays music that isn’t classic to me. I like Pink Floyd (the greatest rock band on the planet), Robin Trower, Uriah Heep, Small Faces, Jethro Tull etc. …… Yeah I’m old, lol.

What's funny is that how many eventually grow to appreciate their parents music, when they reach a certain age. Good music is good music, in any era or genre.

Jethro Tull etc. …… Yeah I’m old, lol.
New studio album released in 2022... who's old? :p

Last saw Tull in fall of 2019. Ian was really struggling with the vocals, but it was a fun show, anyway.

In the early 70's going to a Tull (Ian Anderson) concert was more like going to a spectacular musical production...
...
He was a showman...!

Should maybe post this in the 'know' thread but I'm not sure if it still holds true but Ian Anderson is/was the largest land owner in Scotland...he is a nature lover and conservationist...!

I always loved the big band music my parents listened to...

Good music will live on and bad music won't...

on a different note but in regard to an aging musician...Kris Kristofferson can't sing and can't act but I don't think he ever wrote a bad song...BTW he's 86

An interesting fact about him is...he was an instructor (officer) at West Point before leaving to enter the music business...!

I never cared for the music my parents listened to ... until one day when I was around 30, I heard Frank Sinatra singing Fly Me To The Moon, noted what a magnificent voice he had (which I always knew anyway), and started delving deeper into his music. Been a huge fan ever since. It kind of weirds out my hard rock / heavy metal friends a little, but I don't care. They also don't appreciate my love of classical and baroque era music. So it goes.

The first time I heard him sing 'Summer Wind'...I was hooked on F.S.

Music is life.
I can't sing but I tell you instantly if the song playing is the original or a cover.

He did so much, but for me, if he had never worked a day before or after Blade Runner, I would be eternally grateful just for that project.

Agree I was hooked on his music after Blade Runner

I didn't hear he had passed until they were playing a tribute at the Very end of 2022 for all lost during the year and used Vangelis's music

They never referenced him.... and it just made me wonder, so I did a search and was stunned to see he had passed. I still have most of his CDs

Was sad to learn that Jody Miller died in October of 22 also,

Always thought she did the best version of House of the Rising Sun

Children and their parents seldom seem to like the same kind of music. It must be a rule.
