The Deal Is Done! New L48

/ The Deal Is Done! New L48 #11
moser29thmp, I happen to know Tony and yes, after months of checking the dealers in greater New England area, this is the actual quoted price.. Moser, you should fill in your bio which is at "my home".. You will find that tractor prices, regardelss of the brand, have wild fluctuating pricing depending where you live.. Wife an I visited an uncle last month in North Carolina. I went to a Mahindra/NH/Kubota dealerships for a look see... It was enough to make me sick, the prices quoted just 850 miles from home. Like being in another world..

Tony about your Hydraulic Post hole digger.

The L48 has 12.7 gpm flow off the loader hydraulics and the X1975 calls for 15 gpm minimum.

The L48 has 3 pumps, Loader, Backhoe and Swing Arm. for a total flow of 25+/- gpm.

Please let me know if you have any information to the contrary, I am in the beginning phase of looking for a Hydraulic Post Digger for my L48, and think a 5 to 15 gpm unit is needed (model x975)

thanks

The pricing is very regional.

In this months issue of Midwest Equipment Advertiser has an L48 in Lena, Wi. at D@B Equipment for 33550. Really. It is new. I have no idea why so low? I am surprised it is still there?

( Is that the out the door price????Does your state have sales tax??? I am being quoted $44,000 without anything but a soft cab and a radio, on the L48TLB-SG and the quick attach front amd rear and rear tire fluid. What does the Top and tilt hydraulics kit and the Top and tilt cyclinders do?????

Did you pay the amount they first quoted or were you able to
work the price down or just add equipment for the same price?
Anyone else on the east coast able to advise a price?? Please
advise???? )

moser, yes, those are out the door prices, and no, I didn't haggle them down, they were good enough as they were. New Hampshire has no sales tax, so I avoided that. Look around, the deals are there... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Tony

I had looked at hydraulic augers for some time now and read much on them. From what others have said, the 12.7 is enough to run it but it will run a bit slower than optimal speed. However, it will handle all the big bits that it can mount. It is able to handle the big diameter bits better than the lower GPM models.

I think it will work fine, just not as fast as you may expect.

Gray, I looked up McMillen's website, and found other models: The X975 that requires 6 to 15 gpm that handles up to a 24" auger; and the X1475 that requires 10 to 25 gpm that handles up to a 30" auger. Do you think one of these might be better matched to the L48 loader?

Tony

Personally it seems you should stay within 75-80% of the top end of the operating range (flow), I would talk directly with McMillen and have them give you the recommendation. You are dealing with GPM flow, the PSI the flow is at, which affects RPM and torque.

Tony,

Both of those models would be a good option. They look like they will give you all the hole size you need. I would go with the bigger one for the added torgue it has for heavey soils and roots. Sounds like the dealer may have easy access to the bigger model or they likely would have suggested one of the models you mention?

I did have 2 dealer recommend the bigger unit for me and told me many have used them with lower flows and had no issues? As there are better options you have found, one of them is the way to go.

I can second that, we underflow attachments like that all the time. They just run a bit slower. Being just over 2gpm low is not a big deal at all, if this was on a standard L without the three hyd pumps then I'd question it.

If you need high speed than a smaller PHD might be a good idea. If you need raw power to rip roots and tough soil I'd stick with what ya got.
