I was in the franchise fast food business. in that case, the operators have no choice.

In other cases, independents, pepsi and coke compete for your EXCLUSIVE business. They give you hundreds if not thousands of $ in equipment.

BTW, ask any restaurant operator when is the last time they cleaned their syrup tubes running from the back room to the dispenser. hee hee heeeeeeeee

Beer wholesalers in the US clean the draft keg lines for the retailers.

Lets say I worry more as a parent on the one with the truck who at this point, doesn't seem to have a concept of saving LOL

When I was shuttling him home one night after work, we were talking about future goals. He's thinking about the Marines after high school. I asked him why not the Army? He looks at me all seriously and tells me "geez dad, I don't want to be killed fighting". Then I ask him why not the Air Force? He looks at me all seriously and informs me that there are too many gay people in the Air Force. I ask him how he knows all this and of course he read it on the internet.
Sometimes it's interesting to hear young peoples' thoughts on things. Makes you wonder how they develop their view of the world.

As someone who doesn't drink alcohol and doesn't like soda (can't stand the fizzyness or the sweetness), I thought it was interesting when I was sent (for work related training) to a venue that is known for their craft beer that they had a sign posted telling people what day of the week the taps get cleaned out on.

That’s interesting. I suppose a marketing person thought that would sell more beer.

Then there's this...

Coke syrup used to be delivered to my dad’s store in glass jugs. In the early 70’s they switched to gallon milk type cartons. CO2 was in a 4’ acetylene type tank. Dad always said the paper cup cost more than the Coke. I could have all the Coke I wanted but had better use the same cup over & over. :giggle: Friends were envious but I took it for granted. A Coke was a treat then not a staple like today. 5 cents for small, large 10 cents in the late 60’s. 7 & 16 ounce cups.

We reused the glass jugs for lawnmower gas. Oops.

My four and a half year old grandson spent the weekend with us while his older sister was in an out of town soccer tournament. While going thru a fast food line he asked me if I would get him a credit card!! Four and a half year old and wanting a credit card. Later his dad explained that he had filled the shopping cart on the LEGO website with all the Star Wars LEGO sets and couldn't understand why they hadn't been delivered yet. His dad explained that he needed a credit card to pay for them before they would be shipped. So granddaddy needs to get him a credit card.

He gets it honest. When his mother was still in high school we gave her and her older sister credit cards to buy gas, food, and other necessities. About a month after getting her card in the mail our wedding anniversary arrived and young daughter announced that she was going to treat her mom and I to a meal at HER favorite (expensive seafood) restaurant. Older sis couldn't go because it would be too expansive. So she drove us there, ordered extra appetizers, encouraged us to have a couple extra drinks, and was the most gracious host you can imagine. When it came time to pay we expected her to use her money but she smiled and whipped out her credit card.

Actually both girls were very careful with the cards and used them for their intended purpose. Neither were more high maintenance than the normal for teenaged girls. It did make me uneasy that they had the credit card numbers memorized and nearly twenty years later can recite them.

The one good thing I did when they were 18 and 14 was to take them to our bank to talk to a financial consultant. I was going to buy them into some mutual funds and the lady wouldn't finish the paper work unless I brought the girls in for a little chat. When they sat down in this very nice office the lady pulled out a laptop computer, rare and expensive back then, and started with some graphs and charts explaining the stock market and mutual funds. She spent the better part of an hour talking and answering questions. That talk has stuck with them twenty years later. Both have money invested doing very well. A few weeks later the oldest contradicted something one of her teachers said in class telling him, "that's not what my broker says"! The teacher was surprised saying, "YOU have a broker!".

Anyway, enough stories, teach your children how to manage money. Knowing how to do that and picking a worthwhile mate are the two most important things a young person can do.

Dad always said the paper cup cost more than the Coke.

The keg costs more than the beer inside. The can costs more than the beer as well.

But consumer product margins are much better than container margins.

Sounds like a pretty smart kid to me!
