My wife thought my purchase was ok just cuz it scratched a major itch I had. But when I got laid off 2 years later, I offered to sell it because I could get by with a smaller mower and snow blower. She wouldn't hear of it; she recognized how much work it could do for us yet. 14 months into a new job later and she's still just as convinced.

Great post. I argued with my wife for over five years or so about a real tractor. I finally pulled the trigger this year after putting three kids through college. After two months of having the tractor, she had the b@lls to tell me I should have bought the **** thing 10 years ago.

wow, i know the feelings you all have. When we bought our 13 acres..not much land by most folks ideas, we tried the riding mower for the yard area....did you know stump and riders don't get along?....then I picked up a very USED 18hp Yanmar dt 4x4 and rebuilt a 4' shredder....wife was a little happier....took her with me to help a neighbor..20 miles down the road..he had a 50hp with loader.....with in a week we had the L3200 4x4 DT.....she has no issues if I buy a tool for it now.

Yup. I do know riding mowers and stumps don't get along. But with the backhoe my wife just let me get after seeing all the use I am getting from the L3200 I begged for, the stumps all disappeared in about an hour. And they were all 12-24" stumps.

She is like many of our wives. She didn't see any use for the first tractor(an old Fiat-Allis 5020) but came to like what it could do. Then I wanted more power, a step through, and HST and she didn't understand that either. After much anguish on my part and sadness on hers, she gave me the blessing for the L3200. Now she sees why I wanted it and she runs this one too. She was afraid of the old tractor. The backhoe came last and she says she wants me to keep it around when the latest project is finished. ---- now for more attachments....:devil:
