Biggest problem with smartphones is not only is the OS relaying info back to the mothership, all those "free" aaps are doing the same, selling whatever info they can gather on you to anyone willing to pay for it.

Reading and drafting posts on the laptop works for me. I use the phone to read or post here only in desperate situations, posting from a hotel room etc. The phone's screen and keyboard are just too small for practical use.

But maybe I'm the exception. I tend to draft longwinded replies. I wonder if many read them clear to the bottom.
