The GC2300 has arrived and has broke

Finally received my brand new GC2300 last night. Removed the rear mower and went about moving some top soil around. After about 45 min., I looked down and noticed my right pant leg and shoe were covered in hydraulic fluid. The front loader control box was spewing. Looks like there is a bolt head on right side of unit (didn't look close enough to see if this was for mounting or what) that has a soft washer on it that was split. After thinking about it some, I figured that it should use a copper washer instead of soft material.

I called the dealer first thing this morning and said they are supposed to send someone out to look at it today. Guess I will find out if it was worth paying some extra going with the local dealer (instead of internet/ebay) or not.

So now my plans for getting so much done this weekend outside are on hold.

Well, that sure is a bummer. What a way to start a relationship with your tractor. Still, those first few hours are working out the bugs in the system. Hope they fix it up OK.

It is up setting to have some thing new and not be able to use it /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Hope that it is just some thing that is not tight enough and is a easy fix..
I still can not use my 2310 in some places as it is still MUDD.

Hope u and the new tractor are a good fit..

My local Kubota dealer here in Wendell NC is selling the GC2300 for $7,850. I am thinking of getting one rather than a BX2230, does anyone have any advice concerning this? The BX would be $9,800.

I also looked at the Kubotas. I had decided that I wanted a tractor that I could add a backhoe to at some point and the smallest framed tractor that would accept a Kubota backhoe was a B7510 (I wanted sub-compact). So I was going to buy the GC2310 which was set up for a backhoe. However this became a moot point when Woods recently came out with backhoes to fit the subcompacts(including the GC2300) and my dealer says he prefers selling Woods to Massey.

As I mention in my next installment on the 2300 (I started a new thread because I had some questions about mods) I can appreciate the cruise control on a hydro drive since I am now an experienced hydro driver. And the Kubota does have cruise.

As far as quality goes, I would have to guess that they are pretty much the same (except for the previously mentioned loader prob. But that could happen on any tractor I suspect) since the 2300/10 is an Iseki.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I am currently leaning towards the Kubota. I currently have a L3010 that is very tough and reliable but will soon be more than I can use. Once sold the cash will purchase a small rig, or I think I can probably trade even for the BX. We'll see....

Something else I wanted to mention. When looking at tractors I noticed (and a sales guy pointed out to me) that the rated horsepower on the GC2300 is at about 1000rpm less than the Kubotas and some of the others I looked at. I would venture to say that an engine running at a lower rpm will have a tendency to last longer.

Just thought I would throw that in the mix.
