Nice wall. I did a 2 pallet wall in Baton Rouge. Just used the mortarless blocks like you did to replace a wooden one that was falling apart. Didn't have to excavate much (by hand).
Here, the guy with the Bob Cat who did the backfill on my carriage house had some time left already paid by my contractor and asked me if I had any more work that needed done. I showed him my slope around the NE corner of the swimming pool that I'd been cursing since buying my Gravely, as it wanted to slide sideways on that slope. He dug it away. I ordered a pallet of block and bought some more for it and a smaller wall over a culvert along the drive.
For the culvert along the drive, it was eroding away. where the water dropped into the culvert. I got the idea of using those ATV ramps to cover the hole and then put the blocks on one of the ramps as the wall at the end of the culvert. I poured some asphalt patch into the hole between the wall and culvert and repaired the damage. That has worked great now for over 2 years.
