well i don't know about power plants but i talked to a guy and he said the WTC is a one off for the way it was built i maybe be wrong but one of the guys did study building etc etc at uni in germany if it is a one off building it may have been a case study... the thing with it is it had no inturnal (?) frame ie knock out the wall down it falls most other building from what i have heard will take a hit like that and stand the only way to bring them down is from the bottom not the top..on the other note did he know before maybe but maybe not there are many parts to his group and they could act with out him knowing (why would he need to know???? )it could have been someone who wants to take over from bin and showing his backers what he can do ..think about gangs where to get in or higher in the ranks ya have to prove to the higher ones you are the right person for the job .pic this all bin would have to say is "to prove your worth make me proud"he knows nothing of when, who, how.. clear mind and can't be tryed

I try to reassure myself by thinking that if these groups had a nuclear bomb or even an effective biological/chemical threat they would have used them on or before September 11th. What better way to get the U.S. into a shooting war with us probably using nuclear and chemical weapons than destroying one of our cities completely or killing millions of our citizens? It's really hard to say what Bin Laden and the other terrorists had planned for or still have planned but I can't imagine that they accurately predicted a worldwide coalition dedicated to stomping them out would result from the 9/11 attacks. If, God forbid, they do anything else large scale or dramatic they will only strengthen our resolve to eliminate them.
I believe that most country's leaders, with a few exceptions, have strong self-preservation instincts and will work to prevent a global Islam vs. the West war as a result of these tragedies. Sure there will be some riding coattails but I think that most countries and their leaders see the world as it is -- interconnected in commerce and economies and will contribute to ridding the world of such terrorists as much as is possible. There is too much at stake. I'm sure that most people, nations, leaders around the world don't want to go back to the Dark Ages such as the Taliban has provided for Afghanistan.

Grant, Well said. I was talking to a pilot instructor from Randolph the other day, and he told me he had trained a couple of Afgan pilots. He said these guys were in no way ready for his course. I know zilch about airplanes, but from what he said, evidently before starting up a fuel pump of some kind has to be turned on. One of these guys was having a hard time understanding this, so he thought to draw a parallel to drawing water from a well using a pump. The student interrupted his explanation and said " But at home when I want water I use a bucket and a rope". He told me it took these guys 2 years to complete a 1 year course.
Yea, they are tough guerilla fighters, but there is no sense in giving them more credit than they are due.

Oh, my! I hadn't even thought about the nuke potential. I was thinking more along the lines of the way they kicked the Russian's behinds. The nuke is a possibility. Never found any in Iraq. Maybe that's why. These guys obviously aren't above killing their own. What better delivery method to use? Can't bring it into the states because it's probably dang heavy. Customs may not question a box cutter, but a suitcase that weighs half a ton probably would raise some eyebrows. And, after the explosion, they could blame it on us. After all, they're just a poor third world country, we're a nuclear superpower, who is more likely to have thrown the ordinance? How do you prove to the accusing masses that the last cruise missle you launched didn't have a nuclear warhead?
USA Today had an article last week claiming that Afghan and Pakistani sources said that American and British special forces have been in country for 2 weeks. Supposedly, they are checking caves and underground bunkers.
At first, I took this news to be the usual rumor. Until this weekend when one of the TV News casters said the US govmint is denying that a 3 man special forces team was captured. The key wording was "the report is untrue." Therefore, knowing what I do about politicians, I believe the story probably IS true, at least the part about US troops being in country. Unfortunately, they are not going to find this guy in a bunker or cave. They need to check the local equivalent of a Super 8. Or schools, hospitals, etc. Iraq has played that trick real well, hide your sensitive stuff in among a bunch of kids and have a big story to tell the world when the US comes to get it.
