I've always been fascinated with compact tractors but have never owned one (small property, limited income). There's just something about tractors that I admire, they're rugged no-nonsense machines (except for the price, lol) that work hard and just plain get stuff done. Maybe someday I'll have one but for now I'll read the posts and try to learn more about the do's and don'ts of buying, using, and keeping them running.

Thumbs up to all who offer their expertise and experience-based advice. I'm glad to be here.

Welcome and always keep your eye out. Tractors arent like cars, you can get one that is 60 years old and have a capable machine depending on your tasks. Especially if you dont mine wrenching a bit.

My dad has a Super H Farmall built in 1953, and we still ride it around the pasture today. It is amazing how simple these machines are to work on.

Yep, I've definately got a tractor itch. I'm in southern Maine, land of the White Walkers (no really, us old people often use white walkers to get around with). Watching the snow fall as we speak, supposed to be 14 degrees and windy tomorrow (Thanksgiving Day). Dunno' why people are so darned thankful, even the turkeys are bitchy in this weather (lol, just kiddin').

Got my longjohns and Redballs on, snowshoes are in the shed. I'm ready to hit the trail to find that cheap old compact tractor that looks and runs like new (Did I say cheap? Just makin' sure). Just point me in the right direction and leave the lights on, I'll be headin' out after the glow plugs on my walker warm up.
