I joined the forum 6 years ago and got my first tractor this year. Like you, I could not justify buying a new machine or a newer used one in good condition.
I have less than $6k in mine with a bunch of implements. It is 30 years old but still gets a lot of work done.
I can tell you I regret not getting one earlier. It is amazing the jobs you can do...especially those we always put off as they are so labor intensive.
I have learned a lot here on TBN...many good and helpful folks.

What do you plan to do with it? Even a very small tractor can be versatile if it has a loader. As we get older it's much easier to let Mr Hydraulic help with the work. A small 16 hp tractor can sometimes be had for a reasonable amount, but can be used for anything from mowing to plowing the driveway, carrying firewood, cleaning up the garden and many other tasks. I haven't even owned a wheelbarrow since I bought my first Kubota in 2002, it was just in the way and a friend needed one so I gave it away. If you can do minor maintenance and repairs you often can sometimes find an older trade-in at a dealer such as Westcott's for a reasonable amount.
