Personally, I rarely if ever even bother putting on gloves to do most welding...sometimes I wish I would have been wearing some but for the most part they are too much of a hindrance...but if I need to handle something hot I always have them handy...

Dang...you must have armor plated skin. I've had the radiant heat from welding penetrate my leather gloves making it uncomfortable on long beads.

Keep some aloe vera 100% with you for burns. It cools much much better than cold water.

Please be careful with ibuprofen. Whilst it does not have the overdose problem of paracetamol (and the two can be taken together), it still has side effects. It should be taken after food - otherwise it can cause duodenal ulcers. My mother was prescribed it for a liver problem - and it was the duodenal ulcer from ibuprofen that killed her - not the liver problem - the liver problem just meant she was not eating properly before taking the ibuprofen.

I guess once you encoutered some burns like that on our skin we need to give it a first aid or ask the physician what is the right ways to do for the burn. Cape Cod Fence

The guy I worked for in a car shop would never wear gloves while welding or using plasma cutter. Stupid in my book

Also watch for those Mechanic Gloves, with hot stuff they can be worse than nothing, since the plastic will melt and stick to your skin when exposed to enough heat. Plastic burns are the worst.
