Dallas Seavey was first out of Elim this morning at 2:51 AM. Jan Steves left Huslia this morning at 4:45 AM. Dallas had left Huslia on 3/14 at 12:46 AM. So that is a three day, 378 mile gap! Go Jan!! Good Luck the rest of the way. Hope you can claim that Red Lantern Award in Nome. Be Safe!

I wonder if he will push all the way to Nome from Elim or have a short rest in White Mt. or Safety. I've got to check the satellite channels to see if one will be covering the finish.

Dallas Seavey crossed the Iditarod finish line at 4:36 AM AKDT this morning to claim the first place honors. His dad Mitch (a two time winner) is in second place and left Safety (20 miles from Nome) this morning at 5:26 AM. While there are and have been other families with more than one member in the same race, I believe this will be the first time a father & son have placed 1st & 2nd in the same race! (Oh, make that son & father).

Oosik - There is a mandatory 8hr rest at White Mountain. So if you can get into White Mountain, 77 miles from Nome, with a good lead, you are going to be hard to beat. The Sportmans channel is going to have a special on 3/19 at 9PM.

gmikem206 - I miss the excitement of the race. As I remember - we would get the finish of the first 5-10 racers and the Red Lantern live on TV in Anchorage.

Yes, I checked that out immediately and I do get the Sportsmans Channel on my Dish pkg. On my pkg the Sportsmans Channel is 395 - - Iditarod Unleashed is a one hour program from 9pm - 10pm PDT.

Oosik, enjoy watching the special. I'll have to see if there is any way I can find it on line. I'll continue to follow it on the website though until the last musher is in. So a few more days.

Cindy Abbott checked into Nome riding under the burled arch at 9:19:51 PM AKDT on 3/22/15. The sixty-sixth and final musher to finish. She trailed winning musher Dallas Seavey by 5 days 3 hours 6 minutes 45 seconds. 12 teams had to scratch along the way this year. So ends Iditarod 43, The Last Great Race.
