I'm sure you're fine using off road diesel in either application. Just because you are occasionally "roading" your tractor on a public street, that does not mean you have to now only use on-road fuel.

I'm using on-road fuel all the time now. Ironically, the only place anywhere near me that sells off-road fuel charges way too much per gallon. The Costco on the north side of town crushes them on price per gallon, even with the fuel taxes added in.

Question, if a tractor is used in the winter clearing driveways, and driving from place to place, are they allowed to use off rod diesel, or on road? Or is it a moot point. When I was clearing drives, I always trailered my BX2230. Just wondering. Jon

I use off road about 90% of the time. Sometimes when I’m in DE, I’ll buy on road because DE on road is same price as PA off road.
If I’m clearing snow off driveways, I mostly use off road. I’m not on public roads, except to drive from one to the other and I am not in a registered, licensed motor vehicle.
The day I get pulled over for running off-road because I’m driving from one place to another on a public road is the day I hand the keys to the cop and walk away.

The reason I asked was during the winter I had seen a large loader fueling up at an off road diesel pump. He was definately dealing with snow from it all over the machine and the extra large bucket, which was partially blocked with snow.

I do as well, all the time and like you the day I get stopped by some 'squirrel squad' cop, I'll do the same. Heck, I've had them follow me with their lights on in the past. No issue. I'm all lit up anyway.

Here in Michigan the difference between ORD and Offroad ULSD is at least 50 cents per.

Really depends upon your road use tax rate. Here it is about $1. Well worth the trouble to keep ORD on hand.

For the last 15 years, I cut hay off the place. The owner made access with hay large equipment all but impossible with all his landscaping & hardscaping. I let him know last fall he finally “built me off” his fields, so mowing would be the option going forward at $850/cut.

That field is only around 10-11 acres. The whole property is 25. They’ve filmed movies there.
Behind it is another very nice traditional home where they filmed part of the movie “Marley & Me”.
