Thought about you while I was mowing fields today Mr. HayDude.

This little critter wasn't as big as your fist...see the dandelion for reference.

Likely hours old...not more than a day or two at the most

I cut hay today and had to shutdown for about 10 minutes and herd a covey of very young wild turkey chicks into the woods and out of the hay field to safety towards where their momma went.

Yeah and these were little bitty fellows, I was glad I was able to get them out of the hay grass and direct them to the woods.

More repairs….

This heater valve started leaking on the big Challenger when I opened it to test it. Normally closed this time of year, I wanted to make sure it wasn’t stuck.

It was rubbing against steel for many years…

Good thing I didn’t wait until cold weather, open it and start driving. Could have lost a lot of coolant.


Tomorrow: I got some more field mowing to do. Planning on starting to cut hay next week.

@732, 733, 734, at least the quail were moving and could be seen. When a turkey is sitting they flatten themselves to the ground and go through the mower and you find them next round. If you are unlucky they survived and you have to stop and put them down as the mower cut the legs off.

Getting some small bush hogging jobs done while making the change over to hay.

This little field brings back a lot of memories, I used to do small squares and round bales here.
