The updates and the progress seem to both be in slow motion. I am getting to the tedious stuff now and at times feel like I am standing still. Anyway, I hauled up two bundles of Hemlock live edge boards left over from the rafters and started the board on board gables:

Breaking down and setting up scaffolding got it done on the West side:

All the scaffolding is up on the East side and I almost got 1/2 of it done today:

Looking good Rick. Batten down the hatches. The NWS is saying up to five inches of rain by tuesday night.

Why are you using tempered glass for your windows? From what I understand, tempered is for glass that is close to the ground due the the chance that it might be hit or broken by kids.

Have you spoken to a commercial glazer? I don't have any direct experience, but know a guy who had some cutom windows installed in his house similar to what you are doing. He told me that he was able to get it in bigger dimmensions through them, and at less cost. I've cought him in a few stories before, but I can't say for certain if this is true.

What did Lowes and Home Depot say? They both do custom sizes and angles.

Eddie, I don't know, but they all said tempered only for my application. My windows in '83 were plate, but they were only 2' wide and 6-7' tall. I did not try HD or L yet, and I still need to call back and price 4 panes.

It must be a safety thing to protect people outside or inside.

I wonder if its for the strength issue. Those windows are very large and as such they can catch a lot of wind. Weaker windows can flex and eventually blow out/break while the tempered glass will take a lot more abuse. Thats about all I can think of.

It may have something to do with the potential settling of the house. A tempered window will handle the stresses a little better.
