20181031_200415.jpg Here is my 135 I inherited 2yrs ago when my father passed. It has the perkins 3cyl gas engine. I purchased a mf 200 series loader at a farm auction in the spring and just finished the install. It will be doing some in town driveway snow clearing and some very light duty loader work at moms farm in spring.

20180413_190127.jpg This was the early stages of the "mock up" the auctioneer stated it was removed from a 135 but there are many different models of 135 some modifications were required. The grill guard had to be brought in closer to the grill so the upper and lower guard arms had to be shortened. The alternator would not clear the right side frame so I had to notch the side frame as seen in above pic. I had to rebuild the loader pivot bores and made new greasable pins. I also had to rebush both bucket pivot bores and also made new greasable pins. I installed a new divertor valve that feeds a single lever loader control valve with float position. Just finished rewiring the headlights, signals, and upper rotate and now just waiting for the snow to put it to use.

Be careful with that big loader while retaining the lightweight agricultural front axle. Might be a good idea to look for a 2135 (much stronger) front axle.

Otherwise, nice! That’s a strong loader!

I can readily agree with all Shaeff's comments. The industrial-spec front axle, such as on my MF40, is much more robust and designed for carrying significant additional weight, which is why it is also equipped with wider wheels and tyres. The agricultural version front axle your and my 135 have isn't. Its track width can be adjusted to suit various crops but has only a low capacity for carrying extra weight. Power-assisted steering is another huge advantage - I love how much easier it makes the 40's steering in comparison to the 135.

Another huge advantage of that model loader, which incidentally is quite similar to my 40's, is that the side rails of the additional frame reach right to the rear axle. You will be surprised to see what it will lift ..... don't risk breaking your tractor's front axle! Any engineer can explain to you how the full-length frame reduces stress by spreading forces further apart. It also eliminates the stresses put on the tractor's cast-iron casings that some other half-length designs exert.

Aside from ensuring all parts are well-greased - if you are using the loader a lot - check periodically the LH front wheel nuts to ensure they stay tight. Don't over-tighten them ... merely ensure they don't come loose. I found that carrying buckets of soil caused them to work loose. It only seemed to occur then - it is related to the heavy weights involved. I lost a couple nuts, damaged a few studs and holes in the wheel ... ultimately, given how inexpensive parts for these tractors are, I renewed them all. Another good tip over here is to fill the rear tyres with water, but in your climate you would need anti-freeze as well. Rear wheel weights and/or a heavy implement on the 3PL might be a better idea. This is because only the rear wheels provide stability. Again ... be careful.

I am well aware of the front axle being on the weak side for the loader. It will only be clearing a few town driveways of snow and the rest of the time it lives its retired life in my heated garage. If I was to be doing a lot of work with it I would be looking more in to a axle upgrade.

The axle will be fine for the lifestyle your tractor seems to have in front of it. Snow is light. Heated garage

Was having issues with the machine running like crap. Adjusted all sorts of things hoping to smooth it out.

Two weeks ago we got 8-10” of fresh powder, couldn’t use the blower because it would bog the machine down. Ended up using the crudely “mounted” plow but was very frustrated in the MF’s performance. Checked fuel flow, carb settings, governor, cap, electronic ignition, rotor, wires and plugs. If I pulled plug wires off #’s 1 and 4, the engine sound hardly changed.

If I held the wires CLOSE to the plug ends but not touching, it smoothed right out. These plugs aren’t that old, but apparently fouled out! Replaced with some spares and it ran much better. Ordered some Autolite 3116 (hotter) plugs for it, cleared this last storm with ease. Runs great, governor reacts quickly.

After clearing a 12” snow drop a few days ago.:
