If I had known New Holland was made by Fiat at the time I would never have bought it. Fiats are known for crappy electrics. When I was a young man it was well known a fiat would burn up an 800 dollar wiring harness to protect a 50 cent fuse.

I am definitely getting a metal guard for the fuel tank. It's funny, the first year I had it I was bushogging in a swampy area and the tractor sank to the deck plates and the the bushhog was on the mud but in the highest position it would go. Had to haul it out with a D6. Nothing was damaged, not even the fuel tank or line.

I sent an email to Jeff at Messicks to look up the metal tank guard for my unit.

I am lucky the problems have all been stupid stuff and have not had major mechanical problems. (knock on wood)

The worst part of all was NH lack of customer support.

It is somewhat of a oversimplification to say that that New Holland is made by Fiat. The parent company of Fiat bought the Ford tractor operations and added to it its own tractor operations as well as numerous others that it bought. The resulting company Case/New Holland and others is the world's largest Ag / Industrial equipment manufacturer. Considerably larger than Deere for instance.

I believe (as a 6 time Ford /New Holland owner) that the level of support you receive is totally dependent on the dealer you choose and how you deal with them. I'm not speaking as one who has never had problems, examples are a TN75S that had so many computer problems that New Holland bought it back (this was all arranged by dealer and dealer participated in the expense), a 2120 that blew a front differential when 3 years old (it is now 21 years old and running strong), the TN75D which was a replacement for the TN75S in which New Holland forgot to put in a trans seal and it had to be split twice with under 10 hours to get it right. etc. etc. These are mechanical things used under less than highway conditions and they will have problems.

Just another reason I will never buy long distance to save a buck, I want my dealer to be there when I need him. A dealer who didn't sell you the tractor doesn't have much incentive to take care of you after the sale especially since most warranty work appears to be a money losing operation for the dealer.

Just my thoughts.

I agree Andy. that is why I bought the TN in the first place, 1. because dealer was close, had prior exp with them and it was good. 2. price was alot better than deere which is the other local dealer. Both of these were within 20minutes of me. After moving from the TN and went orange he is 30 min away. I had two good prices from deere but both were 1.5hr away. The local guy is very high.

Dealer makes all difference in the world. Reason I have bought numerous GM's from a dealer 1 hr away and not the local guys.
