I'll swallow my pride and ask a very dumb question. Beside the parking break lever on the B7800 is another lever. What is it for?
(ps , a friend at work said there are no dumb questions, only dumb people)

BrettW-
Although I've never used it, I always thought it was a cruise control feature. I think Kubota calls it a "speed set lever" or some such. Regards, Mike

Brettw is right the other lever is a speed set lever once your are at the speed you want push down on the lever and then remove you foot from the travel pedal. This system works pretty good but it's not as accruate as the cruise system on your car. When you push both brake pedals or push on the travel pedal it will release the cruise lever. When you have the cruise engaged you can use a single brake pedal to help make a tighter turn.

Don't feel bad... when I got my B7300 I didn't know what that lever was for for a few weeks. I finally broke out the owners manual! When all else fails... read the instructions! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yeah they call it "cruise control". I find it useless, it doesn't work in reverse, and the only time my 7800 is moving at a constant speed is snowblowing in reverse. The rest of the time I'm in the woods or using the FEL.

Provided of course that you remember this /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I'd only had our B2910 for a short time and decided to try out the cruise control while mowing a large open field which was bordered on one side by a large hedgerow containing briars, small saplings, and a few large trees. I was crusing along and had it about 85% done and was getting near the corners when I ran out of room to make the turn. With impending disaster looming, my mind went blank and I went stright into the hedgerow at several mph.

A 5 inch sapling and a large briar slowed my forward progress as I regained enough presence of mind to disengage the cruise control. The only thing that was really damaged was me - got scraped up a bit going in - tractor was none the worse for wear.

Needless to say I'm alot more selective about when and where I use the cruise control.

My advice is if you plan to use it, use it alot - and practice disengaging it so that it becomes second nature. - otherwise it has the potential to be a very dangerous feature.

I thought that if you pushed either brake pedal it would release the cruise on the 7800. It seems like I tried to do that with my 7800 and it just released the cruise. The only time I ever used the cruise was to test it out and found that for what I use my tractor for it was useless even when I was mowing.

I suppose if you were going to go down a road for a while it would be good. Keep your right foot from cramping holding down the HST.
