Have patience Paul, you have enough on your mind for the moment. By the way, I love the idea behind the reverse wall. Over here in our neck of the woods, the fashion is wood or white plastic fences, and I always wonder how unsightly it must be for the owners, to look at fence posts, and various cross members on their side of the fence. Congratulations again for thinking.

Is there a web site that I can find these on?
I have a guy that wants to trade his in on a new tractor.
I would like to give him a fair price, but I don't even know where to start with price.

Sounds like a good place to start. Glad I did ! !! ! !

Today's Episode is "Getting Familiar"
I know you folks like to see what, if any, are the latest changes. As I travelled through the Posts at the start of my new Life, I seem to remember seeing pictures of different mufflers, but none like this one.
This outside shot tells it all

As you can see this shot from just above the muffler shows the complete manifold.

Same manifold, this time from the right. I would imagine the heat shield is of the same design.

There may be some changes in here of which I am not aware, thought I'd better include this area.

Same for this area also. Could you ever of imagined the power which is tranaferred by this area. Awesome ! ! !

MR. I listened, I spent quite a while today, just driving and manuevering. Except for the few Fork Lifts I have used during my "younger " years, this is my first left foot, right foot driving situation. Although I am a left foot for brake driver, in an automobile, in this case the left doesn't want to cooperate.
I find right foot down to go forward, and right toe lift to reverse is working just fine. Open for comments.

How is that set up for the hood to close? It sure looks a lot different than my 422.

I frequently use my toes to lift the pedals rather than stomping down on them. Especially on long days where I need a break from repetative motion.

Interesting muffler. I've never seen that before.

Your shot of under the gas tank really shows how all the pumps are stacked in front of the engine, now, vs the way they are on mine. You can clearly see the two hoses that go from the variable volume pump to(I assume) the treadle valve. I wonder who makes this pump for them, if it is the same manufacturer as mine, but with a hydraulic ccontrol option, vs the cable control of my hydroback.

Very nice looking unit. I haven't seen mine outside for about a month now. There just isn't anything to do outside right now. I miss it /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That method may be OK for mowing or just moving around on level ground, but you MUST learn to use both pedals!

When on uneven ground, both work best!

Quickly moving in, out, and around while mowing, both are best!

When moving in to pick up a load, both work best!

Moving a MiniHoe bucket into position, both work best!

I use both feet to slowly ascend and descend the stairs of my front porch. That would be impossible using your right foot method!! Just right foot might work OK going up, but backing down the stairs I must use the reverse pedal to move across the treads, and then quickly use the forward pedal to slowly and smoothly descend the risers!

Two footing was difficult for me at first, but now after 30 hours of practice, two footing has become nearly intuitive.

PS: Install a Suicide Knob to make your steering quicker, easier, and safer!!

NJBILL,

Great pictures. I have never liked the muffler in the engine compartment due to the amount of heat it provides. This seems to solve this issue. Could you take some pictures showing the opening in the engine hood where the exhaust pipe exits. I'm wondering if I could modify my existing PT422. A new muffler and some cutting on the engine hood.

thanks
Duane

Duane,
As you are looking at this set up and thinking, " Why didn't they centre the cut out around the manifold pipe. The front, or left hand edge, looking at the photos, is located right where the heat shield is bolted to the body. You will figure, no doubt that it is 4" X 4". I thought the 13&1/2 inches would be a good starting point.

How about that cute little exhaust deflector, that's just in case you don't go fast enough to blow the heat backwards.
Bill.

In case you want to use the handle as another reference point, lot's of luck with your challenge.
