Yep, that's the hair pin clip on the end. I thought about cotter pins but that would require pliers to undo.

Push it on all the way and it'll be harder for it come off.

Those ring ding things used by sailors would work great. They're easier to put on and to take off than a key ring, which I've used on clips that tend to come out.

Another option is to run a tension cord end through the hole and then clip the cord somewhere else or wrap the cord around the area where the clip is before clipping it at the other end. Tension cords are what I use on my turnbuckles instead of replacing those teen tiny clips that came with them. Just attach the tension cord to one side of the turnbuckle and run the other end up to hole in the ROPS.

Look good, but I think you will have to carry the directions with you at all time. Something that is fairly new is Bow Tie cotter pins.

I have them on the shear pins on my snow blower. The work great and are simple to get on and off. Not sure were to find them or what sizes are available though.

That's why i don't like using bent nails or cotter pins unless in an emergency.. as you need tools to remove them. The cotter rings and keychain rings can be removed by hand / no tools..e tc.

I have the Bowtie pins on my turn buckle adjustment links...my dealer gave them to me the day I purchased my tractor.
The Bowtie pins are easy to remove but harder than the standard hair clips.
I have not lost any of my hair pins anywhere on the tractor.
