Let's see ... the L3010 is 56.7 inches wide, the 4300 is 50 inches wide
I supose the type of tires make a difference? my 4300 with R-4's is 58" wide. in the narrow position.
Anit it fun tractor hunting!!!!

Just to throw my 2 cents in here. Sounds like if the 3010 and 4200 are comparable price wise but the 3010 has more HP and lift capacity while being equal in terms of the user's preference for a "heavy" feel, then its a valid comparison. The 4400 is way more expensive than the 4200 I understand, and the 2910 doesn't compare with the 4200 in the opinion of the user.

Yup, configuration shouldn't be confused with quality/class/size. My JD 870, with turf tires, is 64.4 inches wide. It's not in the same width class as the 970 or 1070, which are 88.8 inches wide. Hydraulically, all three are in the same class (8.1-8.4 gpm). They are also in the same 3ph lift capacity class (1880-2020 lbs). Even though there are 5 HP steps among the three, all are in the under 40 HP class. All three can mount the 440 loader, but the lift cylinder location on the 870 restricts the lift capacity, so even with the same loader the 870 isn't in the same loader class as the 970 or 1070.

I think I'll stop now/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif before trying to compare across brand names and models.

hook,

I was in the same boat, almost. Was looking at JD 4310 and kubota L3010. the kubota is clearly a bigger more macho feeling machine, when I saw the JD I immediatly though it was puny, the kubota has a bigger frame, more tractor like

Size matters!!

Anyway while at the dealer, I found a used 4510 with 140 hours and the JD 460 loader, this loader has almost 2 times the lift capacity of the L3010 loader(2250 lb). also it has the big chassis, plus the loader controls on a deere are far more ergonomic than Kubotas. Both fine machines, but i like the JD better, and I was totally sold on the kubota.
