She was found on the floor with a spilled bottle of pills- no idea what kind. He looked like he had fallen. The door was open but no signs of a breakin, or obvious signs of anything stolen. Besides the one dead dog there were two others running around; one inside, the other outside.

The reality is being on a large property and preferring privacy are factors.
Odd that it is both of them though.
Lake Tahoe Nevada had a similar case… eventually ruled natural causes.

That's horrible; heartbreaking.
I visited my parents, two days before he went into assisted living because his Alzheimer's finally got to be too much for her to handle alone. It should have happened sooner, but she wanted him to spend one last birthday in the house he grew up in.
If she had ever fallen or otherwise gotten incapacitated he wouldn't have known what to do, and they both would have died there.
It's been almost 8 years but I still think about it often.
