Oh geez, you're missing out on some great stuff, if you're closing your mind after a guy who hit his prime 60-80 years ago.
The downfall of the current comedians is the constant reference to the of subject P'tics. Never understood why that belongs in comedy. Comedy should be a get away from that.

And the cursing.
Movies (we watch TCM a lot), someone gets shot & they fall over dead. For years now who needs to see slow motion of the bullet going through with blood splatter?

Comedy is wonderful but I'll change channels if I hear canned laughter.
And so many of the old shows were full of it.

same way with soap operas that have that phony overbright lighting on the faces.

I stopped watching any tv at all more than ten years ago, when commercials started dominating everything.
I'd try the mute button, but finally I gave up. Thank goodness for the internet.

I don't think I could ever get tired of Rodney Dangerfield.

I bet he's still cracking jokes "up there".
I wonder if he's getting any respect now...I hope so.

I don't think so, my wife likes and listens to many of these newer so called comedians. It seems like vulgar trash talk and or dopers and drugs are their mainstay. Some of their crap is almost amusing till they seem they need to shock everyone with their vulgarity.

Some of the best comedians, actors, singers and musicians were from 40s-60s.
Some, yes. But many more from 1970 until now, as well. Personally, I get tired real quick of the setup/punchline style of those older guys, even if some of the jokes are pretty funny. It's like watching the same old movie over and over, no matter how great the movie is, you've already seen it 1000 times.

Rodney always got a lot of respect from the younger comedians, as he was hugely instrumental in getting many of their feet in the door. H was as well known and appreciated as a mentor for the younger comedians, as for his own routine. His club was well known for giving younger comedians their first chances.

But his career peaked 40 years after Bob Hope, so according to LouNY, he's garbage. 😛

Example: when Michael Jackson passed many said he was the greatest dancer of all time (the "moonwalk"?).
Compare him to Fred Astaire, Bill Robinson, the Nicolas brothers, Sammy Davis Jr.

I’m guessing - just a wild guess - that Michael Jackson’s popularity on a tractor forum is pretty low.

But - I’m thinking there were quite a few tractors, zero turns and implements at Neverland!

He did sing "Beat It" while wearing one glove.

I recall one episode of the Honeymooners where they went golfing and contains one the funniest moments on TV. Ralph is teaching Ed how to hit the ball off the tee and tells Ed to address the ball. Ed walks up to the ball and waves his hand and says “helllllo baaaall”! I don’t know why it’s so funny but Ed had the mannerisms down.

I take it back, that scene is in Ralph’s apartment, I just watched it and it’s still funny.
