They are all long gone now but in the early 50's dad was the VIP bodyguard for the headliners at the Tahoe Casinos... kind of like the movie body guard but nothing got blown up.

He said it was a lot of fun... babysit the headliners making sure they are on time and ready to perform their engagements.

He was a Nevada Special Deputy and being the former US Boxing Heavyweight Title Holder gave them something to talk about...

Of everyone that came through he said hands down Lena Horne was his all time favorite... class all the way around.

I'm thinking most have never heard of her but she had a long career in the entertainment industry.

I'm at the point where many of my friends have reached their final resting place...

Small world. We're separated more by years, than distance! I'm just a short drive north of Devon, not in Philly proper. Been a few years since I've been to CPYC, but I have some friends up there, still.

My 5 yrs (10-15) in Devon included some of my fondest memories. It was very rural in 1964. I learned to ride, shoot, and drive. Horse driven sleigh rides in the snow were the best of times...
My youngest brother went back 20 yrs later and warned me not to go. The farm was paved and built up.

A local radio DJ was telling about seeing AI of George Carlin recently. He said they had the look and mannerisms down, but the jokes just weren't funny.

Carlin was funny and original!

So was Cheech n Chong!
They acted just like some neighborhood stoners only funny!

Carl Weathers just died at 76, I remember him from in the heat of the night.
