This is a response I got from aircommuter regarding the paint on his Ford 445A

"The paint is Ford/NH part# M5771ASE2DS quart number. It works well with DuPont 8034S acrylic enamel thinner, 4oz to a quart. I painted the whole thing with gravity feed hvlp gun."

I've seen many a liquid overhaul...
What he did looks to be a pro paint job. He either started out with a cream puff or he put a lot of effort into detail.

I worked in my father's shop starting when I was 10, we did both body and mechanical. I have painted about 30 cars. I have one to post that was painted entirely by my wife with a brush here in my home shop. (Tractor that is) Check out Garage Journal with my same user name, they have a place for albums. You can veiw the home shop and boat project. You are right about the prep work, I get carried away, while people are saying it's just a tractor I'm still sanding.

That's a good like right there.
Sure can not tell it was brush painted from the picture. The paint must have been mixed hot. I'd keep her around.

Can I ask where you found the reduction drive starter? I'd like to get one for my 345C

I found the supplier on eBay, it is called Rare Electrical. It is also much easier to put in the back bolt.

I didn't see it in this thread anywhere. What is a reduction starter drive?

It is a starter that has gear reduction inside which allowed auto makers to use a smaller flywheel for gaining a lower floorboard in the cars. The smaller flywheel created a lower ratio making the growing engine sizes and increasing compression ratios difficult to crank. Started by Chrysler. Now that system has been enhanced by adding a permanent magnet motor to the gear reduction starter so it can crank faster and with even more torque than before . The permanant magnet starters use tighter tolerances inside making the motor more efficent. Used on Case/ Cummins, Mercedes Benz, first now almost everone has them.
