The True Nature of Humanity

Pick out the good, toss out the bad, and carry on. I find it doesn,t take long to figure out the good guys from the bad guys.

I try to stay out of the political threads. I've realized over time that there is no "winning" a argument on the net. Or probably in person. I avoid political discussionsions in my daily life. People are pretty much gonna vote for whatever they are used too, you are not going to change their minds. I do think that some folks are keyboard commandos. I've seen people says things that would get them a azzkicking in person.

Talk is cheap. Anyone can play nice on the net, or talk nice. That in it's self, does not make them a good person.

On the contrary, I find that most nice people are, in fact, nice. For the most part, most people are good folks.

Its the crabby b****rds that I tend to ignore. They are bummers, downers, negative and self serving, getting some kind of sick pleasure out of making people react to their hostility.
Yes, they might have a wealth of knowledge but sometimes its not worth having to appease them to get them to share that knowledge.

I do agree that it is sometime hard to get across in written word what could easily be done with a facial expression or tone of voice in a personal face-to-face conversation. Several times I have gotten into horribly misconstrued converstations with folks here on TBN. However, those conversations usually temper down with an acknowledgement of the miscommunications and an offer to consume some good food beverages should we ever meet in person.

LOL---You are right Moss....we got sideways a couple of times but squared it away and I'm sure in person, with the body language it would have never happened....I agree, most folks are decent folks .

The problem with communicating on the internet is two fold. As a profoundly deaf person I learned that 70% of how we communicate with one another is done visually-body language, facial expresson etc. So its very, ver y easy to misconstrue what someone is trying to see in writing-why do you think legal mumbo jumbpo is so complex? The second thing is people are very brave with what they say to someone through a forum or chat, much more than they are in person and I mean by alot. BUT- that is an illusion cause they can be found for one and two-everyhing they type is recorded and can be used against you if needed. Just because you have freedom of speech doesnt mean you will NOT suffer the consiquences of what you say later on.

As for the true nature of humanity-everyone, and I mean everyone is capable of unspeakable evil just as we all are capable of love. Its how we choose not to act on the evil and act on the love that makes us human rather than inhumane. I am not a religios person and I am not condoning or preaching to anyone but what happens when you stop believing in a power higher than yourself? You replace it with power, money and lust which can be a fine line to one acting on your evil.

My impression is the same. Most folks i meet are decent folks, until they prove otherwise and even then it's usually a misunderstanding rather then the true intent that is the difficulty .

Actually I think you can learn a lot about a online personality just by observing how they respond to different topics. The bitterness or spiteful nature of some people will come through over time. In the same way you can see the compassion and caring of others by their response. This is true on this forum and most others.
