Dave, Yep, I was welding in the garage; it was a pain to back the cars out to make sure I didn't have sparks flying on the cars, and now I also don't have to worry about burning down the garage from those stray sparks either. The fumes were a problem too in the garage, even with the doors open. Welding outside on the driveway is wonderful! I would be honored if you "Stole" some of my design.

Thx for sharing the design and execution of your various projects, I too need to get busy and burn some rod. Now that you've set the bug, and with the input of others I can really appreciate the value of the end result.

I really enjoyed the photo essay. I am always impressed with folks who can do the types of things you have done with your tractor and welder. Kind of gives me hope that I might be able to do some things like you did someday. Gotta get me a welder first. Anyway, keep up the good work and keep posting the pics.

On the welding cart at work, I used a 6/4 extension cord into a 2-space circuit breaker box. I wired the receptacle for the welder straight thru, and used the two breakers to give me two 20 amp outlets for the 9" grinder, drill, etc.

Funny you should mention a 6/4 cord. Mine happens to be a 6/4 cord also, but I'm currently only using 3 of the conductors. I bought it at a surplus warehouse for about $1 per foot, and they did not have any 6/3 in stock so they gave me 6/4 for the same price. Sounds like I might be changing that plug from a 3 prong to a 4 prong and adding a 20 amp breaker box to the cart...

Glad to hear that you have another conductor in there.
I actually checked your pictures and wasn't going to post when I saw only 3 pins on the male end of your cord!

Square D makes a 60 amp air conditioner disconnect that's basically a breaker box and it's pretty cheap...$10.99 at Lowes. Throw away the switch inside and replace it with real breakers.

It's really nice having a good outlet (20 amps available with nothing else on the circuit) handy for the big grinder, without running an
other extension cord.

<font color="brown">Taylor-Dunn</font> has some Industrial Trailers that have "true tracking". The model TAT has 4-wheel steering. The photos are clear enough to get an idea how this works. It doesn't look too hard to duplicate the mechanism.
