The \"Woods\" brand of implements

I am considering purchasing a Woods TPR 7200 power rake for my business. I am sold on the theory of a power rake and what it can and can not do for me but now have to decide on a brand. There is a Woods dealer close by which is a plus for getting parts and service. However I have no experience with the Woods line of products and would like some impute about the product from people who have used them.

How does Woods compare to others such as Landpride and Harley? This will be a make or break investment for me after a long and WET winter so any impute is welcome and appreciated.

I definitely consider Woods to be one of the top brands. When I bought my finish mower, I looked at several brands and had it narrowed down to Landpride and Woods. I basically flipped a coin to end up with the Landpride.

I have a Woods 6500 backhoe. IMHO it is better built than the Kubota hoe (yes, I've heard the rumor that Woods builds Kubota hoes and it wouldn't surprise me - I just like the Woods design better). It has done a great job for me - the quality is top notch and I've had no problems with it in three years of digging rocks.

Woods products are top of the line. You won't be unhappy with Woods, Landpride or any of the top tier makers.

Woods makes good stuff, including the landscaping implements for the Deere Frontier program. They have fallen on hard times in the past few years. Hopefully, the move into compact implements will help them move back into their former glory.

Re: The \"Woods\" brand of implements

Woods will not be around if they lose mega millions like they lost in 2001. The TISCO profits and their cash flow is all that saved them because they defaulted on some of their bonds and had a hard time securing a loan to liquidate these debts. Woods did finally pay their National Machinery Show lease a year late, when the show told them that their spot was gone. They used the TISCO spot, this year, & relegated to a popcorn vender spot. It is a shame because they once had some of the most advance designs. Now almost relagated as a Deere vender, Woods is and has been for sale.

I own a a Woods brand 3 PH tiller and several Landpride 3 PH implements. I would say that they're equal in quality and both brands are top quality. Decide between these based on price and dealer support. You can't go wrong with either (quality-wise).

Wow, hadn't heard that Woods was on the rocks. No surprise - many folks are. But they do make a good product. Hopefully they will be around to continue to service them. I suppose if they go away that someone will absorb them and continue to provide parts and such. Hopefully....

Re: The \"Woods\" brand of implements

Woods will be around in some form if they were sold or filed for creditor protection. They do make some quality units but a company in trouble must cut something what will it be? From 1978 to 1993 we were a woods dealer but Alamo offered a better value to our customers so we tried to keep both but it did on work and the stronger company won out. Woods has tried to change the name of TISCO to Woods Parts but the dealers will not let them do it. The dealers still call TISCO ,TISCO. The top 3 producers as territory men left TISCO and now work for A&I. Tisco still has great service and makes money, so this is an asset to Woods. Woods has now gone to Multicolor, first among the big 4 to do this, good for customer choices but increases production cost. Likely the ALamo's, Bush Hog's & Landprides will go after Woods market segments because they are vulnerable. Woods started and led the finish mower market for the USA MFG. but has since slipped back. Good Luck Woods.
