I guess you mean they have great service if you're a dealer instead of the consumer. I used Tisco cylinders and valve to do my top 'n tilt, and bought them through a Kubota dealer who readily admitted not knowing much about those items. In the first place, I was both surprised and disappointed to find that the parts came with absolutely no instructions, warranty, etc. (I mean not even a single sheet of paper of any kind) and that's the way they came from Tisco because I was there when the boxes were opened. In the second place, the valve came with the wrong control levers (maybe the dealer and I could take part of the blame for that since we learned that different levers are used if you're going to mount the valve in one of Tisco's "boxes" instead of in the open). In the third place, one of the cylinders had a pin hole leak where one of the fittings was welded on. And in the fourth place, Tisco won't talk to a consumer on the phone; you have to be a dealer to talk to their support personnel. Overall, not a bad product, but I'd only use them again as a last resort.

Re: The \"Woods\" brand of implements

I just bought a Tisco hydraulic side link (from my New Holland dealer) and like Bird said, there were no instructions or manual or parts list of any kind. I went with Tisco because I've had great service from my dealer and trust them to take care of any problems that I might have, and the price was better than I could get elsewhere. Mine does not leak and it looks well built and sturdy, but I haven't put it under a real heavy load yet.

Re: The \"Woods\" brand of implements

Danny, when I heard of the Tisco products, and found that the Kubota dealer where I bought my tractor didn't even know anything at all about them, I had stopped at a New Holland dealership and they told me they had quit handlling any Tisco products because they had too many complaints and problems with them (I didn't inquire about the details). Then I stopped later at another Kubota dealership and they had a Tisco catalog with a number of items specifically listed for different Kubota tractor models. In fact, the way the catalog was printed, it made it look almost like a Kubota/Tisco partnership. And that Kubota dealer did everything he could to make everything right. They didn't trust their own welding, so they paid $50 to have a hydraulics shop fix the leak. And when we had problems/questions about the control levers, they called Tisco, then put me on the phone to talk to Tisco's support personnel. Tisco thought they were talking to one of the dealer's mechanics, and under those circumstances, they were quite helpful.

Re: The \"Woods\" brand of implements

In defense of TISCO if a dealer orders the wrong stuff it is not TISCO's fault. TISCO's books are tailored for shop & parts personnel not the public. TISCO has 200,000 line items and has to fit them in a book. Japanese & other Asian imports are not the specialty of TISCO. Yes they have some parts for them but they are better on the stuff for utility tractors. IMO A&I is the best after market parts company in the USA but they do not tailor their business to CUT's.

Re: The \"Woods\" brand of implements

The only woods I have is a backhoe and have been pleased so far.

But Harley is the what you'll probably see in rental yards, and landscapers' fleets. They are the Crescent's, Channel-locks and ViseGrips of the power rake biz. my 2 cents.

Re: The \"Woods\" brand of implements

Steve, I like your quote. Harley and Woods are the final two power rakes left in the comparison. I have a Harley demo scheduled for early next week. Both implements are with in the same price range but the Woods dealer is about 30 miles closer to me. I was talking to a dealer today that told me that the Harley and Woods rakes are made or have been made by the same manufacture - any information on that?

I am leaning toward the Harley just because of the name and the fact they are willing to go the extra mile to make sure this is what I want to invest in. However, if the Woods and Harley are the same rake, it would be nice to go with the dealer that is close by. But, I am getting the feeling that Woods has a power rake to say the have a power rake. I have tried, without success, to get the company to respond to my request for information. I have told them that I am comparing implements and would like to know why I should by theirs. So far I have heard nothing from them. The local dealer is not familiar with the implement but is willing to work with me on the price because of the slow winter in sales. On the other hand, Harley has sent me a video, followed up with personal phone calls and is willing to drive 60 miles with a tractor and rake to my home and give me a personal demo from the regional rep.

If you can not tell, I am still trying to justify this expense to myself as I write this reply. I appreciate all the responses.

U know the saying 'U only live once' go for it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When/ IF it dries out I plan on looking at a harley rake too but also like the preparators and rock hounds because of not having to go back and gather rocks.
Looks like some demo time /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
