The world according to Monsanto II

The anti food for fuel crowd always seems to forget that a large portion of the corn is left as feed. The more crops grown for fuel the better of the food situation is. If there are major shortages somewhere then we have the supply to cover it. We simply stop burning it for a while. If the crop was never grown to start with you have nothing.

GREAT point....When corn is used to produce fuel, the byproduct is a valuable, marketable cattle feed, worth as much in terms of feed value as straight corn itself.

And it would do most of the anti-GMO crowd a lot of good to research "market rationing"...Simply put, that's where price dictates which end users get the supplies they need.

WHEN I read the link, I read where someone's non factual opinion stated it is a bad thing. Facts tell me otherwise. You still haven't learned to separate fact from opinion.
Any scientist will tell you that you have to look at all possibilties then go from there.

If all scientists had the mindset that you have shown in both of these threads, I hesitate to think where we would be today.

Are you sure on that, might want to investigate that a little more.

Now you're a "scientist"? Wow! Only yesterday, you were a mere truck driver.....Ya musta stayed in a Holiday Inn last night!

So you think it's a BAD thing when a scientist refuses to base opinions on conjecture and unfounded non facts? Scientists look at possibilities, but they don't start mass hysteria without due cause. And we don't make up or "facts" as we go along.....................................Like CLAIMING someone planted GMO oats when we ALL know that's not true.....How about an answer to THAT?

OK...Here ya go Sparky,,,,

Ethanol byproducts for cattle feed reduce feed costs

And another....

Care for more? I have 16,300+ links I can provide.....What MAY confuse you is, these are actual science based reports and NOt special interest disinformation based around pure conjecture instead of facts....You may be unfamiliar with reports done in this format, based on what links you've provided so far.

I've got a class to attend, (Forage crop genetics) along with the fact this is getting SO BORING....Don't despair though, I'll be back.

CRIIGEN, particularly G-E Seralini has published a number of articles presenting a statistical re-analysis of test results conducted by Monsanto at the behest of European regulatory authorities. The European Food Safety Authority rejected Seralini's conclusions. A similar (but more succinct) refutation is summarized here: FSANZ response to Seralini et al. (2009) - Food Standards Australia New Zealand

Last year, a French researcher (Mark Fellous) was sued for libel by Seralini for saying that Seralini's results were garbage and implying he wasn't competent. Dr. Fellous lost the case, not because his claims about Seralini's research were false, but because he had implied that Seralini's research was biased because it was funded by GreenPeace, which, under French law, was apparently a libelous statement (since he couldn't PROVE that GreenPeace funding influenced the results).

We constantly see inuendo, and outright claims, that government decisions in favour of biotech crops, or research results from biotech companies or industry-funded researchers are biased...not to be trusted. Is it any more of a stretch to wonder about how unbiased research funded by avowed opponents of a technology will be? Of course, this then would seriously thin the ranks of who you might be willing to trust!

So according to you Iowa State universty is a 'special interest group', and the reviewers in Kansas are also.

I'm sure you could contact them for more information, if you were actually interested.

Insults are not the way to get points across, but with that said, the link you posted has no mention of the 'fuel specific corn' They are different.

You need to study that part a little more, and while you are at it, I suggest you read the entire article.............it seems you missed a few pertinent details.

Just when I thought you'd displayed all of your lack of knowledge on the subject, you sink another level....

I didn't miss any details. What I DID miss was any FACTUAL INFORMATION contained within your link, as there was none to be had. It's very unlikely you'' get me to agree with something I KNOW is wrong. However, you seem to be marching lock step with poor science and misinformation.

So what class will YOU attend today? I'm off to my Forage crop genetics lab. Do they offer that in most truck stops?

Just remember that without the Monsanto's in the agri world there would have been hundreds of millions of people starve to death throughout the world. That people eating these foods live longer and live healthier lives than any before them in the history of man. Something to think about, especially if you are watching your child starve to death.

HS

Unfortunately, you miss the point that this world is one of finite resources and exponential growth in anything will always end in tears...
