Those gardening folks that don't do what you suggest are missing the boat by setting leaves by the curb for pick-up. That rye grass and leaves make for some very good compost.

In the last week I have chopped up about 15 cubic yards of loose leaves given to me by people who wanted to get rid of them...I dump them on my garden and mow over them with my tractor.

I do that with pine needles and trimmings too. since out soil is usually a higher ph the composted needles help the open areas soil alot. Dump fees are about $15/yd which I charge the customers for. The fee money then goes into nitrogen fertilizer and black tarps. I wind up with a good amount of mulch after cooking it all down.

Steve, you're a freakin genious! I've been haulin it all to the dump, charging the customer for the fees of course, but you have just shown me the light. Thanks:thumbsup:
