Thanks JD755 & Rob. I understand what both of you are saying. However based on the fact that the solenoid only acts up a few starts, might not the relay coil be acting up...not opening up to let juice flow to the thermistor/soleniod on suceeding start attempts? Just a thought!!!!
Some others have found the problem to be a degradation of the thermistor. Its resistance at room temperature is not low enough to always insure sufficient current to pull in the solenoid. After changing the thermistor they typically report hearing a much louder click from the solenoid when it pulls in. This indicates with the degraded thermistor it was sluggish pulling in. With full current through a new thermistor it more firmly pulls in. And now pulls in every time.
