Look for a Product called " Tecnu " . Follow directions and you will be amazed at the results . It is basically a liquid type soap ( not really a lathering type soap ) that neutralizes the oils in either poison oak or ivy .
I use the same product "Tecnu" and it works very well. I would not recommend using hot water first, but cold water after wash the area with Tecnu or soap. From my experience using hot water initially can spread the oil more by opening more pores in the skin. If I still have PI after third day then I will wash the area more aggressively with hot water, but normally Tecnu and cold water resolves the problem.
