If it is mounted under or near the light, the infrared version isn't needed, nor is the flash, if I understand correctly. I'm pretty sure the flash can be turned off on all of them. If the camera has NO infrared capabilites, it should be silent.

I don't remember if I already posted this URL or not. It has a lot of information and a forum.

.... The thing you really need is one that takes the picture and sends it to another location instead of storing it onsite, but that gets expensive.....

If you have power, you can use a cellphone/router/access card for internet connectivity. Then get one of those cheap Xxx kits. They broadcast wireless.
Set it up on-site to transmit to your Home PC. Your home PC needs internet also.

I'd say this whole kit, new would cost less than 800 dollars new. PC included.
Reuse value would be high, as when you move in, the router can still be used, as well as the home security Xxx system.

Power is the key.

Or you could use a wireless webcam and broadcast to a PC inside the house, once you can lock it. Free motion detecting software and instructions are available on the web.

My wireless router will pick up a signal across the street at my MIL's house, about 500 feet away. Maybe a neighbor would allow a small corner of a room to set up a pc in until you lock up? Before you invest the money in all of that, I would just make it really hard for them to take the camera, or camo it so it isn't noticed. Buying one of those darkened glass bubbles that they mount camera's in and mounting it away from your camera somewhere might give a daytime worker/visitor the idea that the camera is active, but if they try to distroy the bubble, they will still get caught by the one on the pole by the security light.

If you think that once you get the house to a point where you can lock it up, you won't have any more problems with the thieves, you are sadly mistaken. A very wise man once said "Locks are for honest people" and there probably isn't a truer statement than that when it comes to keeping what you own.

Just wanted to give an update to kinda bring a closure to this thread.

I do thank everyone for their thoughts and ideas.

I have moved the camper to the construction site and stay there at different times and leave a different light on when not there. I have the security light scheduled to be installed any day now.

It turns out 30 different construction sites were hit the same weekend mine was. All were a grab and go, what ever was laying around and could be carried was taken; no structural damage such as ripping wire out of walls.

Authorities seem to think since building permits are public record someone got a list of sites and hit them all in one weekend. They just don't know if it was someone local or from out of town.

We will just tighten our security and hope we don't get hit again. Of course we should be moving in in a month or two....
