Things learned while on vacation

I had a lazy all-inclusive vacation this year and didn't learn a lot from it.
Going to compensate it now and signed up for couple of courses from this list https://www.skillcоurses.com/free-coursera-courses/. Have you ever did a coursera course? Paid or free one? Was it useful?

Can't compare how a cellphone GPS compares to a dedicated one since I don't have a smartphone.

I had a dedicated GPS well before a smart phone. Both have their places, however, the cell phone will give you live updates to traffic conditions ahead and is therefore able to suggest alternate routes, estimate time of delay, things like that.

I'm not certain what ap Waze uses, but I've found it very useful.

As Moss pointed out, with some apps, it gives you live updates on road conditions. Very useful when you aren't familiar with an area. I hate to admit this, biggest reason why I like it is it will help point out where the cops are sitting. As I mentioned, I generally never go over 10MPH per the posted speed limit (generally over posted 55MPH or higher on highways and when traffic is allowing it), but sometimes you never know who lets you go 10MPH over or someone having a bad dad (learned my lesson by getting busted doing 46 in a 45, on a road I later found out was notorious for changing speed limits on a rural highway on the "back road" to Richmond Va). I just view it as a high tech flashing high beams.

I use to drive 220 from Greensboro to Roanoke a lot, and looking at the time to my house when I was south of Martinsville Va on 220, I thought there was no way I could make the suggested time it was giving me going into Greensboro, but it's been a cows age since I've used that road. Apparently they redid the roads as I wasn't certain which exit I use to use off to go West of Winston, but I followed the app and it got me home a couple of minutes before the calculated time.

I would expand that to drivers between Ohio and Quebec ;)
When we were at Watkins Glenn, the irony is I had to replace a battery.

While waiting in the parking lot for Triple A to show up, a very long story, but I saw a Quebec driver pull one of the biggest dick moves I've seen in a crowded parking lot in a long time (we got there at 0700 and beat the crowd, this was around 1100). This driver really wanted a spot in that lot and screwed to people over in doing so. The guy had gonads. He was with his wife and kid as well.

Sad to say, felt like letting air out of his tires after they left the car, and I was just watching it unfold.

Besides that, come to NC and deal with a yield sign or a round a bout :ROFLMAO: In NC, seems you're required to stop at both, even if there is no traffic.

Found it somewhat funny that my buddy I visited when in NY was complaining about these new things the town was putting in called "round a bouts" and how he and his wife didn't like them. I'm guessing this round a bout thing isn't particular to NC LOL

We're starting to get them up here, also. They might be fine if people knew how to use them, but- like the two way traffic in the middle lane- people would have to learn how to use them.

It probably doesn't help that they just introduce these things and expect people to figure out how to use them. The two way middle lane could be a good way to make a left turn in heavy traffic, yet I've had so many people slam on their brakes and stop in the outside lane when I am trying to use it to make a left turn, that I don't even try anymore.

Also some think the middle lane is their personal passing place, and I am not keen on a head on crash.
