Things that brighten your day?

I would have to say spending time with my nieces...

When they were very young we spent a lot of time together as their very active, extremely fit, no bad habbits, 30 something Mom was battling cancer...

Every time the girls, 4 and 6, would stay... they always asked if I needed help with my projects... I started having projects for them to do and they were so conscientious about doing a good job.... the then 7 year old asked for a cordless drill for her birthday and she got a Milwaukee under the tree.

After a couple of years of touch and go... my sister-in-law has been cancer free for 5 years...

Don't see the girls nearly as often these days... school, swimming, soccer, volleyball, ballet... when I do, they always start out by saying remember when we built the fence of put new siding on the utility trailer...

When I was mowing the lane yesterday with the brush hog, a neighbor at the end of the road, came out to his fence as I was approaching. He had a Hershey candy bar and some lemonade to give me, to say "Thanks' for mowing beside his pasture, by the road too! I didn't *need* the calories, but for some reason, the stuff tasted better than usual. Simple pleasures can be best!

I agree. Large and major events don't occur as often as the smaller things in our Lives. It's the small everyday events that add to our pleasure, and give us all, the incentive to go on and face another day. Life is what We make of it.

My wife Jena and our 14 month old boy Kyle. He's my first and only and he's changing so fast. It's something new to smile about every day.

Last week a red fox and five kits walked out on the road at a stop sign close to home on the way to work. The kits walked under my truck. Had to wait a few minutes for the kits to come out before continuing on to work. While mowing the yard Friday a yearling came out and watched me for few minutes and then trotted back to the woods. We traded the convenience of living in the city to see these things. It was a good trade.

Watching/hearing my boys (ages 12 & 9) make good decisions / perform acts of kindness - makes me aware that my wife & I are doing something right as we do our best to brink them up in this crazy world!
