Things that happen in your small town that you wonder if it happens everywhere?

With his location I would guess it's all done via jet boat or aircraft. Adds a lot of challenges to any endeavor but I would think worth every bit or energy.

Surprised the Forest Service did not have an address for the location. If the property is that isolated how do you or anyone else get to it? 40 miles without a road is about as isolated as you can get. I call that really living off the grid. Accidents happen every day. Health problems happened every day. A person would have to be a complete idiot to go to a location 40 miles from anywhere without a road and the only access being by helicopter.

How does the Forest Service get supplies in and out. How did they get supplies in to build buildings with?

Out here they still use pack trains (horses/mules) for remote locations. Until recently (she's now retired) that was my next door neighbor's job. She would haul supplies and ride fencelines on a horse.

I guess your wife can always find work.

I realize this was not directed to me, but I find it beyond poor taste. It is uncalled for and fits into the category of "false accusations". I see that DesertEagle71 has already responded in a more polite way than I would. But still, you owe him an apology!

I have no problem with DesertEagle71. I am just curious. If me I would not have done what DesertEagle 71 did. I would have told the people there are some things I do not do. DesertEagle71 had to think of his personal health safety also. If something had happen to him, causing a Medical Emergency while he was 40 miles out in the middle of the wilderness without roads he would have been the late DesertEagle71.

??? Please tell me what I did???

The quote you are referencing had NOTHING to do with me being in the middle of the wilderness. I was NOT the one talking about working 40 miles from the nearest road. It referred to someone telling me my wife could go to work in a brothel.

It is adjacent to the busiest dirt runway, in the Lower 48, which we grade with a horse drawn grader. I got into big trouble my first year with them, when I first started, because I asked the new Ranger for permission to take an air compressor in, and rin hoses from the run way to the buildings to blow out the plumbing in the Fall. He didn’t see any problem. Two days later, I flew out, and the Ranger met me at the airport, and we drove to the Forest Supervisors Office to get yelled at for using a machine in the wilderness.

And, it is on the Middle Fork of the Salmon, and the river patrol can bring in big things on a sweep boat. But to replace a water heater costs over $5000.

Nearly fifty years ago the nearest small town to where I grew up put in a second red light. I'd moved away and didn't know about it. I pulled up to the intersection and stopped like I always had and couldn't figure out why the police car on the other side didn't pull out. After a while, I decided the officer must be watching traffic or something made a left turn. The next thing I knew, the new Chief of Police stopped me for running the red light. When I explained the situation, he gave me a warning.
If I'm lost in thought I will just about go through a stop sign in our small town. A change they made 20-25 years ago. It is surprising what happens when your on auto pilot and not paying attention.

It was not me telling you your wife could go to work in a brothel. When I read that I thought to myself how could someone be that crude and rude to post such about someone’s wife.

Looks like Iman's post got deleted and all the posts got renumbered. Just like it never existed, except for the references to it.

Your comment to that poster showed a lot more restraint and class than I would have used. I believe that it also earned you the respect of your fellow TBN members. You certainly have mine.
