City manager decided to put a bump out at the stop light, now only two cars can make a right turn when the light is red!

Ooh, I was there once. There's Booger Hollow, Arkansas. Sign says:
"Population 7...countin' one coon dog"
That seems to be a fairly recent fad, not sure what it's supposed to accomplish other than making it much more difficult to plow the streets after a snowstorm.City manager decided to put a bump out at the stop light, now only two cars can make a right turn when the light is red!![]()
It is to make folks driving take the turn a bit wider so they do not hit pedestrians if they cut the corner close. That would be pedestrians standing darn near in the road to get hit. That seems to be a fairly recent fad, not sure what it's supposed to accomplish other than making it much more difficult to plow the streets after a snowstorm.
You should write a book! Great Scott!!!!!Well not a small town but up in Sacramento there was a mortuary employee who took her 'customers' up to the mountains for midnight picnics.
An anesthesiologist who wore his smock backward, opening in front, busted when a surgery nurse noticed what he was doing to an unconscious woman.
And most famously, Dorothea Montalvo Puente who represented herself as a retired doctor. (No). She ran a boarding house for elderly men she met at the bar across the street. Became their guardian so she could cash their SS checks. Killed them and buried them in the back yard, kept on cashing their checks. When the yard was full she hired someone to help dispose of a very heavy rolled up carpet that dripped blood, dumped along a rural road. When I was a little kid we lived a couple of blocks from her house so she's always stuck in my mind.
I hope these are things that don't 'Happen Everywhere'!![]()
Our first Wal-Mart relocated a while back, Sometimes I say," where Walmart used to be, I think it's church now".Take a lesson from Arkansas. Last time we were there, and asked directions, it always started with "You go down here to Walmart, and turn...".
Speaking of churches, as someone who hasn't spent much time in the Bible belt I'm always surprised by the number of churches there are...almost seems like there's one on every block. Nothing like here at home. Our first Wal-Mart relocated a while back, Sometimes I say," where Walmart used to be, I think it's church now".
Used to eat at a really great Chinese restaurant; it blew me down when I heard the Chinese owner talk to the help in Spanish.I once got stopped for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign (there was no traffic coming). The cop ran my license and discovered that I had never had a moving violation. He handed me back my license and told me he wasn't about to be the one to change that, and to be careful next time. And this was in a town that was notorious for cops having an itchy ticket finger.
There's a Chinese restaurant near me where the entire staff is Caucasian. Now, this is not to say that Caucasians can't cook Chinese food every bit as well as someone who's Asian, but it just somehow feels wrong. We ate there once, once was enough.
Introduced a friend with limited English from South America, to a friend from Libya. Turned out each had taken Italian for their high school foreign language requirement and they were more comfortable in Italian over English for their conversations.Used to eat at a really great Chinese restaurant; it blew me down when I heard the Chinese owner talk to the help in Spanish.
