Think we may have decided

I posted this a few weeks ago.
"I have finally decided it time to buy a tractor and I'm looking for some assistance on what I will actually need (HP, 2 or 4WD, tires) and any other advice, as I'm new to this. This tractor will be used for:
- Brush hogging about 20-25 acres
- Putting in food plots,
- Other general maintenance and projects
- The land is mostly slopped and is located in the Catskill Area in NY
Looking at new tractors as financing options look good."

I think we may have decided on this:

The Kubota MX5100 -hydrostatic
*Loader
6 ft Brush Hog
Rear Remote
Quick Attach 3pt hitch
Ag tires
Used Disc Harrow and possibly a 2 bottom plow

We have two local dealers one 45 min away one 30 min away trying to see who can put together a better package. Also thinking about getting chain hooks put on. Anything else I should be thinking about?

Save money, get more tractor and features. Buy a Bobcat tractor. My BC was $8,000 less than a Case-IH, NH or Kubota.

If I were to buy a new tractor today the Kubota MX5100HST is the machine is the one I would buy. I would get it with the SSQD (Skid Steer Quick Detach) for the front and a couple of hydraulic remotes for the rear. You may want to consider the HD front bucket or beefing up the top of the regular bucket. Good choice. :thumbsup:

That is a nice tractor and you will like the hydrostatic tranny. I personally like the Deere 4520 better, that just me. If you buy the 5100HST consider getting the 28" rims and tires as opposed to the standard 26", I suspect you will find that replacement tires would be more common and less costly. The 28" tires are everywhere.

I would get 2 or 3 rear remotes out the door, one isn't enough.

Stick with Kubota in my opinion. You have made a good choice. A set of remote is always a good idea and don't leave out the boxblade with a good set of rippers.

4WD is the only way to go.

If they weld on chain hooks, I might suggest they do it in line w/ the FEL arms.
I think 5/16" weld hooks are the most common, I "think" the 5/16"
weld hooks will accept 1/4 thru 3/8" size chain, do your research.

If your getting a BH, a thumb is an excellant peice of add on.
Soft shoes for outrigger feet are great!

Pick up oil, and hydraulic fluid and filters now if you do it yourself. You need
spare hydraulic fluid anywho and best to use OEM till warranty runs out IMO.

Add on 360* Lights are VERY nice.

I have found Fasse Company to be very high quality for add on hydraulics.

I wish I had sprung for the canopy originally.

Look into plastic fans, if there vulnerable ask if there is a skid pan.

Don't forget to take pictures of the birth and maybe one of her on the lot!

A broadie knob!

A FEL bucket removable tooth bar is VERY nice to have.

lots of guys like Rachet Rakes...I have never run one to know better but
I do know that toothbar works GREAT.

A spare can of Kubota Spray paint.

Forks, and not the clamp on jobbers are nice too!

A Quck Attach is great. Ask Jery at www.mytractortools.com if he has a QA for you, tell him I sent you.

Gosh what else...oh well, food for thought.

+1 on Chain hooks on FEL and also reinforced bottom cutting bar on bottom of FEL.
