Thinking about buying a Tahoe

Yeah well I’m not worried about 4-6-8 because as I said, mine would be a Duramax.
They make garden hoses for dirty cars, so dark colors are fine for me.

Your continual criticism and negativity of everything someone likes that you don’t is incredible.
I didn't criticize you at all, just asked a simple question. I'm beginning to believe you are 'anally retentive'....

My boss had a Tahoe xl of that vintage and it needed a tranny at 100k aswell.

I stick right to the GM recommended service intervals. Just had the transmission fluid changed and the filter replaced. Kind of a PITA in as much as the crossover exhaust pipe has to be dropped to remove the pan to replace the filter. GM recommends it at 60K miles according to the owners manual. Let the dealer do that stuff.

To the OP, the Tahoe/Yukon is an excellent choice for an all-around utility vehicle. Mine is 4WD. I can get 7' lumber in behind the front seats, 8' if I lay it on the console. The Yukon is my back up towing vehicle for the utility trailers, up to 8100#. My biggest bumper pull is my 16' trailer at 7000#, so no problem. Has the Max Tow package so it has an exhaust brake and integrated trailer brake controller. It has 6 passenger capacity, although the 3rd row seats are always down for hauling cargo. They are power fold so putting them up is no problem, just push a button. With about 2500 miles on it, I am getting a combined 22 MPG, mostly in town driving. Best I have done on a road trip is 30 MPG. After filling it with diesel up it shows 525 miles available. Determination for travel distance between stops is me, not the vehicle.

Thanks for the info, I'm still looking for a Tahoe, just haven't found the right combination of year, mileage and color yet.
I'm not in any hurry to get one, so I'm only going to buy just what I want.

I finally found a vehicle, and ended up buying a 2019 Suburban Premier. I couldn't find a Tahoe that suited me, so I widened my search to include Suburbans. Still, 75-80% pf them were either black or white, which I didn't want. I had a couple of false starts, one I liked was priced right, called the salesman to tell him I was coming over to test drive it and make a deal, he called me back 30 minutes later when I was 5 minutes from the dealer and said someone else had just driven it and bought it. I had a check for it in my pocket.
The other one had a price listed online, but after I drove 70 miles to look at it, took it for a test drive, the price went up $4K. I said no thanks and left. They called me back a few times over the last two weeks with a little better deals, but I told them I couldn't trust them at that point. I did like that truck though.
I had a friend drive me down to the dealer 110 miles south of here and the truck was just what they advertised it as, and drove well. So I made a deal with a warranty, and wrote a check. One plus was that it was a northern Florida car, so it hasn't been on the salty roads so far.
With all the options and features, it's going to take a few weeks to learn how to use all of them, but I have a few of the basic ones figured out.
This truck should last me for as long I keep driving.

I also sold my 2004 Town Car, listed it on Craig's list Monday night and sold it to the first email responder, a local guy and his wife, for my asking price.
Next to go is my 2006 F150, and my former boss from when I worked at his freight brokerage says he wants it. I have a little work to do on it first, but then it's going down the road too. One less vehicle to maintain, license and insure.

BravoXray - very nice rig. We both like the Chevy Pepperdust Metallic or its replacement Empire Beige Metallic. I still want a Tahoe and Wifey wants something that gets better gas mileage. The Trailblazer has over 276,000 miles on it but is holding up well while we "negotiate".

Nice ride and you won't be sorry. My wife bought an off lease Burb LTZ and we still have not figured out what all the buttons do..lol

Only reason she snagged it was she knows the guy who owns the local GM dealership and he called her and told her to get there quick or it would be gone.

Not her or my favorite color, it's deep red metallic. She would have preferred a white or silver one actually. They do all the required services on it, I don't touch it other than I deleted the 4 cylinder crapola on the V8. I also removed the electric running boards as one was frozen up and just replacing the motors was astronomical and the running boards are a real good spot for salt and muck to collect and promote rust (we live in the salt belt)... Sold them on FB Marketplace in a day.

I will say, I don't drive it but I sure like riding in it with it's heated and air conditioned seats and the huge moon roof.

Tell my wife it's really a pickup truck enclosed. She has the 5.3 V8 I believe and she gets almost 20 out of it. The delete didn't impact the fuel mileage at all either. It has the air suspension as well. Rides like a Caddilac. Besides, I like being hauled around instead of driving myself.

Far as I'm concerned, you cannot go wrong with a Burb.

Told my wife if we ever went on a long trip, a couple sleeping bags in the back with the 3rd row seating folded down would work just fine for us. 2 old farts sleeping in the back of a Burb...lol

Yep, I liked it when I saw the pictures online, and liked the color even more when I saw in in person.
I stopped at the grocery store this afternoon, and parked next to a Chevy pickup that was the same color.
Hold out for the Tahoe.
