Blagadan,

You are aware that you need a higher reading pressure gauge for a diesel than a standard automotive one, correct?

I have reconditioned car engines and motorcycle engines in the past, but I've never done a tractor engine so I may be looking for guidance along the way from you experienced guys, thanks!

I encourage you to do the rebuild, since you are so inclined. I agree with
638, however. Until you experience hard starting or power loss, you do not
need to rebuild.

I have done 3 of these small 3-cyl diesels...all Yanmars with way less hrs
than yours. Even with 2000 hrs (and good oil maintenance), your valve
guides and rod bearings should be fine. Hopefully, you can get away with
just new rings and a hone job, but more likely you will need a 0.25mm
oversize piston and bore job. The only gasket you have to buy is the head
gasket.

My B7100 had a bad knock, it spun a rod bearing. i was told by my Kubota dealer that to fix it would be VERY expensive. The gasket kit alone was over $350.00. I bought a used engine for $800.00, the Kubota dealer said I would have double that doing just a partial rebuild.
