Tractors are much easier to sell after they are like 5 yrs old. Before that you get killed on them. Why would anyone want to pay big $$$ for a used machine, when they can pay a little more and just buy a new one. There is no market for your machine, because you are competing with brand new units that can get financing or get a good deal from the dealers that are desperate.

I did a study several years ago on the Deere CUT prices (focused on the 755, 855 and 955 series machines since they were (and still are) so popular). Although not particularly scientific, my results were that tractor depreciation really flattened out at 5 years.
