I think you are on the right track if planning to trade. I like the 2032R model with the increased pto hp. it opens up the attachment size you can utilize. If the drive over decks are working well now I think that alone would be a nice improvement. I am getting old and tired of hooking up the mid mount mower on my x749.

Yeah, that was one of my issues as well, but additionally the manual lock up of the mower deck when using 3pt attachments.

I guess the title of this post isn't exactly accurate anymore as the dealer talked me into looking at the new 2032R. I had my head set on the 2025R because of potentially being able to reuse some attachments. But after hearing that I have 6 year old equipment... Thinking that going all new will alleviate new issues later, or at least have warranty later to replace/fix the issues.

I would keep the attachments and implements that are working well for you. There is no real warranty to speak of on the attacnments you have listed.

That would be a good way to not own anything, I can't think of one manufacturer that hasn't had problems at one point.

Ronnie

All manufacturers have problems. What I can't and DON'T abide is buying something new (as I presume the OP did) and having a problem that is not taken care of by the dealer and manufacturer. If they make me 'live with it', they will live without any more of my money for the duration the time they are in business.

I replaced my lemony 1025R about a year ago with a 2025R. It has way too much power than I need. I normally only run it at about 2500 rpm instead of the approx. 3000 rpm PTO speed. Just don't need that much power. Eighteen to nineteen is plenty for me.

Best FEL on any of the 3 tractors (first was a 4010, like a 2019E version of the 2025R). Really absolutely goof proof FEL action. The 4010's was slow. The 1025's was unpredictable.

Absolutely no issues yet. The R4s don't have hardly any side grip vs. the R3s I had on the 4010, but the R4s are absolutely much tougher.

The 3PH has numerous adjustment holes. The 4010 had none and didn't raise the bush hog high enough.

Well, the issue with dealer and getting it fixed, is a bit of a long story. Warranty was up, going to cost me too much to be worth it to get the 4WD fixed. Additionally I have personal issues trusting that the dealer would actually fix it. And from what I have heard, the problem would just reappear again when the repair parts wear out. Maybe I would get longer than 6 years out of it before it goes out again, but it is kind of like playing Russian Roulette wondering when I might go out of control again when the 4WD disengages. While I could probably sue the dealer, I would rather not go through the pain when I run off a 20 foot cliff, and I am literally talking a 20 foot cliff.

But to add to the other reasons, the tractor is 6 years old. Mower deck and Front Endloader is also 6. The belt needs replaced, the blades need replaced, and the front tires need replaced as when the 4WD is engaged there is a lot of binding which causes problems making turns even in grass. The front endloader also doesn't like to dump every time all the way, it will catch on the way dumping, then pauses, then goes up a bit, and then dumps the rest of the way.

So if I was lucky to get everything fixed, I would probably be looking at about $3000 to $5000 and still have concerns about a possible catastrophic failure somewhere down the road.

So in the end, I figure I am better off.

I've never been lucky enough to own a tractor that is only 6 years old, but I can tell you this...

If I had a machine that was in that bad of shape after 6 years, I would be looking at my operating habits OR getting a different tractor.

Speedy, this isn't a result of abuse or over use. It is a design flaw in that model. Look at http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/john-deere-owning-operating/211070-2520-popping-out-4wd.html Many people have complained about it and many saw it early on, I got lucky that it didn't happen sooner or at least under warranty. As for operating habits... Well I personally don't feel it is operating habits is an issue, i.e. buying a new tractor (your latter comment).

In 6 years I have less than 300 hours on it. So my issue wasn't from over use and you could only suspect my physical abuse based on the hours...

Hey, Brian.

My assumption was NOT abuse on your part. Quite the opposite. I hope you have good luck with your 2032.

As with anything in text, easy to read into comments one opinion or the other... No offense intended since no offense was intended as well...

I originally was looking at 2025 as a replacement, but the auto-connect deck on the '17 2032r kind of became a seller for me as well as the simple fact of getting rid of something that I feel will mortally fail again if fixed...
